Moving estimate FAQ
Rates, route math, packing, privacy and what the online result does—and does not—represent.
What is the starting hourly rate?
The published starting rate is $159 per hour for 2 movers, one truck, and basic crew-use protection materials. Each additional mover adds $40 per hour.
Is there a minimum?
The current planning policy uses a 3-hour minimum for local hourly jobs. The signed Agreement for Moving Services controls the booked move.
How does Double Drive Time work in this estimator?
The configured company policy bills normal drive time once at 10 miles or less and 2 times normal drive time above that distance. This threshold is presented as a company pricing configuration, not as a universal statement that California law begins at that mileage.
When does overtime apply?
The published company schedule prices billable time after 8 hours at 1.5 times the current crew rate. Final application must appear in the signed documents and comply with applicable rules.
Does the online result guarantee the final bill?
No. It is a planning estimate based on the submitted inventory, access, route, and service choices. A booked move requires the appropriate written documents and Not-to-Exceed amount.
Can I describe the move by voice or text?
Yes. Type the move in plain English or use supported browser speech recognition to fill the same description field. The system extracts an editable draft and asks only for details that still block calculation.
Does AI decide the price?
No. The language model may extract inventory and route hints. Crew size, time benchmarks, rates, travel treatment, overtime, fees, and materials are calculated by deterministic backend policy code.
